Cybercrime Treaty Negotiations Begin in Hybrid Format

The First Session of the Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate a Comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes (Cybercrime Treaty), took place between 28 February and 11 March 2022. A full list of all submissions from Member States related to the first session of the Ad-Hoc Committee can be found on the Committee’s webpage, including the positions of Australia, Canada and the European Union and its Member States, as well as members of the multistakeholder community like Microsoft.

A first Intersessional Consultation with stakeholders also took place on 24 and 25 March 2022 in Vienna, where Criminalization, General Provisions, Procedural Measures and Law Enforcement, were discussed. The Ad Hoc Committee is encouraging all interested members of the multistakeholder community to submit their positions and actively participate in the stakeholder consultations.  The Committee’s Second Substantive Session will be held in Vienna on 30 May-10 June 2022.
